Variable-field magnetic force microscopy

The image illustrating the cover of the May 2009 issue of Ultramicroscopy shows a sequence of MFM images at different magnetic fields ranging from 60 to 0 mT.
The images show a distribution of dark and bright spots that correspond to the nanowires with the magnetization parallel or antiparallel to the stray field of the tip, respectively (Ultramicroscopy 109 (2009) 693–699).
This work has been done using a Nanotec Magnetic Force Microscope and a Dulcinea Control Unit, powered by the WSxM Software.
